Art happens when the brain overflows with dreams, and creating always surprises me. It often frustrates me - the lack of control. Yet somehow, as I layer lines on lines and strokes on strokes, I listen more, speak less, and communicate better. The work of the artist is not merely to copy an idea from our brain, or the scene, or the photo. Our work is, and always has been, to uncover a mystery for the world, yes, but more importantly, to reveal the dream to ourselves.
